What's The Importance Of Early Childhood Education?


A well-resourced classroom is not sufficient without an effective teacher to harness those resources. Meanwhile, an effective teacher is not sustainable without a support system to manage the business, support instruction, and provide professional development. Our students are profoundly impacted by their time at ASP, and they go on to build incredible lives and careers on the foundations of an ASP education. Early Childhood Learning

Efforts to scale up access to pre-primary education should not come at the expense of quality. Quality is the sum of many parts, including teachers, families, communities, resources, and curricula. Failure to provide quality early childhood education limits children’s futures by denying them opportunities to reach their full potential. It also limits the futures of countries, robbing them of the human capital needed to reduce inequalities and promote peaceful, prosperous societies.

Education & Human Services Majors

To chart a path forward as the nation grapples with the impact of a global pandemic and systemic racism, federal policymakers can advance research-based policies that have been shown to foster equity and opportunity. This resource describes key policies that can help accelerate efforts to ensure that all young people have equal access to a high-quality, world-class education. Ensure access to integrated, inclusive programs from birth through school entry that are affordable for all families and aligned with early elementary grades. TheFuture of Education and Skills 2030 project aims to help countries find answers to what knowledge, skills, attitudes and values are needed for today's students to thrive and shape their world, as well as how instructional systems can effectively develop them.

Social Development

You will explore and build employability skills needed to become an effective early childhood educator. You will reflect on and practice supportive behaviors required when working in a diverse environment with colleagues, children and their families and outside professionals. You will learn about knowledge, skills and disposition of a well-qualified early childhood educator. You will study the values, roots and the practices of early childhood education from historical and global perspectives. You will explore the image of the child and the principles of emergent curriculum from a holistic perspective. The course identifies current practices and models which support quality in early learning and care environments.

Early Childhood Education Degree Requirements

Sarah Noble, Class of 1998, shares how her time in Model United Nations at ASP shaped her interests, future study, and career, and how her lifelong friendships formed at ASP continue today. For these four grades, students engage in play-based learning activities, whether they are using a creative curriculum or beginning a literacy-focused curriculum like the Teachers College of Reading and Writing . Children learn to approach numeracy and science through planned play and experiential learning, while also integrating the Georgia Mathematics curriculum which uses games, partner work, and collaboration to teach key numeracy skills. A child’s cerebral development begins in utero, and their development in the first eight years of life establishes the foundation for future health and well-being.

In the early years, children develop essential emotional skills like self-confidence, self-regulation of their emotions, self-expression, self-respect, and positive self-belief. These skills are essential for later activities like problem-solving and healthy risk-taking. Small class sizes and lots of teacher interaction time help children learn these skills in an environment in which they are known, cared for, and encouraged to practice these skills. All education students at Gwynedd Mercy University enter into the general Education Studies program. After you complete 45 credits and pass the Basic Skills Assessment Test as required by the state Department of Education, you can enter into a teacher certification program to obtain a degree in early and special education.
